6 Week Continuing Education for Teachers
Join Christina Corso and Sara Strother for 21 hours of immersed learning. Over the course of 6 afternoons advance your understanding of teaching yoga through experiential learning and discussion. This course comprehensively covers in each session:
-Yoga Based Anatomy
- Class sequencing strategies for pose dissection and vinyasa
- Advanced prop use
Each session is 3.5 hours divided into practice, lecture and working creatively with the day’s content. Upon completion teachers will leave with confidence to explore their teaching of public classes and private lessons with greater depth. This 6 week course comes with a custom teacher manual.
Surya Namaskar Basics and Advanced Transitions.
Refine skills for addressing the repetitive sequences of Sun Salutations and uncover the continuity of alignment throughout.
Vira and the role of the Iliopsoas, Pelvis and Legs.
The family of Vira poses include Virabhadrasana I-III, Virasana, Supta Virasana, and Eka Pada Supta Virasana. Gain kinesthetic awareness of the iliopsoas and the major muscle groups of the lower body through the lens of Vira poses to make connections to all other categories of poses.
Arm Balances, Core Anatomy and Pranayama.
Building off the iliopsoas discussion, this week’s lesson layers deep and superficial core engagements to refine your arm balance skills and teaching. Included is a deeper look at the role pranayama plays in your practice and sadhana.
Inversions and Shoulder Anatomy
Take a closer look at the 4 joints of each shoulder and map out a clear strategy for instructing Inversions. Learn how to make inversions comfortable and accessible through technique and effective prop use.
Backbends for Lower Back and Spine Health
Deconstruct backbends for each section of the spine. Included this week is developing tools for helping students find alignment for lower back instability through yoga postures and prop work.
Twists and Anatomy Review
Standing, seated and supine twisting poses will wrap up this final session. Through this family of postures we will brush up on your understanding of the spine, pelvis, core and shoulders. Anatomy review will be both experiential and discussed.
